ABOUT ME

Experienced Mental Health

Professional

I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) in Texas, where I have been licensed since 2008, with approximately 30 years of experience in the mental health field. I earned my degree in Psychology from the University of Costa Rica and began providing therapy in 1996. In 2008, I earned a Master of Science (M.S.) in Marriage and Family Therapy from Texas Woman’s University in Denton, Texas. Since 2025, I have also been registered as an out-of-state telehealth provider in Florida.

Throughout my career, I have worked with individuals, couples, families, and groups, helping clients navigate emotional challenges, relationship difficulties, and significant life transitions. My professional experience includes working as a bilingual therapist at Catholic Charities and serving as a Clinical Supervisor. I have also led workshops and retreats in Costa Rica and worked extensively with clients from diverse cultural, spiritual, and ethnic backgrounds in Texas.

I provide services in both English and Spanish and understand how language, cultural differences, family history, and personal experiences can shape the way people communicate and relate to one another.

My Approach

My therapeutic approach draws primarily on psychodynamic and psychoanalytic perspectives, with an emphasis on understanding emotional patterns, relationship dynamics, and how past experiences can influence present difficulties.

My professional training also includes Solution-Focused and Brief Psychotherapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) techniques, and practical coping strategies. Depending on each client’s needs and therapeutic goals, I incorporate appropriate techniques to address concerns such as anxiety, depression, stress, communication difficulties, and relationship challenges.

I am a certified Parent Educator in Positive Discipline and had the privilege of participating in workshops led by Jane Nelsen, co-founder of the Positive Discipline Association. In 2012, I completed Level 1 Couples Therapy Training at the Gottman Institute, led by Dr. John Gottman.

In my work with couples, I help partners explore recurring conflicts, improve communication, and develop a deeper understanding of themselves and each other. I am particularly attentive to couples who communicate in different languages and may need support expressing themselves in both English and Spanish.

Relationship Coaching

In April 2018, I became a certified Master Life Coach, specializing in helping individuals and couples work toward their relationship and personal development goals. I offer coaching services tailored to clients seeking greater clarity, healthier relationship patterns, and meaningful personal change.

Coaching and psychotherapy are distinct services, and I tailor each service to the client’s needs and the nature of the work.

My services are offered in English and Spanish.

Welcome to my site. I look forward to supporting you on your journey toward greater understanding, connection, and positive change.
